Semantic Web Interest Group members, (if you're on this list, that means you!) Back in April I mentioned the upcoming DC-2005 conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications, in Madrid, Spain 12-15 Sept 2005. [2] As I said at the time, [1] ""This year the Dublin Core conference is taking metadata vocabulary management as its central theme, and the CFP explicitly calls out liaison to the W3C SW Activity and the RDF/OWL ontology world as a priority. This is a great opportunity to build up richer connections between the Semantic Web community and others in the library, metadata and taxonomy world. "" The program[3] is online, and looks great. Of particular interest to the SWIG community, we have on Thurs Sept 15th a "Special Session on Semantic Web", which I'm co-charing with Charles McCathieNevile. This is a 90 minute slot, which I'd like to use as a joint Dublin Core and W3C Semantic Web Interest Group meeting(*), opening it up for short talks, informal demonstrations, and discussions of interest to both communities. If you're planning to attend the conference (a good idea anyway :), do please think about coming along to the Semantic Web special session, and perhaps proposing a short talk or topic of discussion that helps connect the world of Semantic Web with issues, concerns and practical applications relating to Dublin Core. Discussion is encouraged on this list, although feel free to mail me, Charles and Eva offlist if you prefer. I'll pass this note onto a couple of Dublin Core lists too. I'll work on an agenda page for the meeting. Hope to see you there, Dan (*) I should note that we normally give at least 8 weeks notice before any W3C group meeting, so technically if anyone objects to calling the DC SW Session a W3C SWIG meeting, we ought to rename it. If you've any concerns on that front, do get in touch with me. The idea is that many from the SWIG are likely to be there anyway, so we should make the most of the overlap between communities...
