I only found one .scm file in the CVS version of the test suite: assert007.scm. This was committed in error; it was created in the course of some Saxon testing and should not have been included in the set of files that were committed. Its presence does no harm. Saxon uses .scm by default for "schema component model" files. This is an XML representation of a compiled schema (that is, a set of schema components) designed to make frequently-used schemas faster to load from filestore, and also to provide access to normalized schema component information by XSLT or XQuery applications.
