Hello world, After lengthy discussion, some of which will appear in the minutes when those are published later this week, I believe the consensus position of the WG is that the version attribute will be required. There is some ambivalence about this decision so to avoid any possibility of going back to last call *again*, it will be identified as a "feature at risk" in the forthcoming LC publication. This will give us the flexibility to change our minds and make it optional if persuasive arguments are presented.
