Dear XML Core WG members, Our current charter [1] expires a week from today. Please see the recent email below and the document it references. Our current list of deliverables consists of XML 1.0 6th Edition and XInclude 1.1 Recommendation. I doubt we are ever going to produce XML 1.0 6th Edition. According to the new policy (which I believe officially goes into effect June 18), we would not be able to advance XInclude 1.1 after our charter ends (or after June 18 perhaps). I believe we should try to publish the XInclude 1.1 CR asap. However, even if we do, we would not be able to publish the Recommendation until we are rechartered or granted an extension, and I don't know the chances of that happening. I would like to have our telcon tomorrow to discuss these issues. paul [1] http://www.w3.org/XML/2013/xml-core-charter.html -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: New practice (policy) on Group charter end dates Resent-Date: Mon, 25 May 2015 03:39:24 +0000 Resent-From: chairs@w3.org Date: Sun, 24 May 2015 23:38:52 -0400 From: Ralph Swick <swick@w3.org> To: W3C Advisory Committee <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org>, Chairs <chairs@w3.org> To: W3C Advisory Committee, Chairs W3M has adopted, with encouragement of the Advisory Board and at the delegation of the Director, some more specific practices to review Working Group and Interest Group progress prior to their charter end dates. The agreed policy [1] sets specific Team schedules for developing a rechartering or extension proposal or closing a Group if it will not have completed its deliverables prior to the expiration of the current charter. We expect to engage the Group in developing these plans as is the current practice; the policy establishes a timeline for the discussion. [1] http://www.w3.org/2015/04/charter-extensions.html This policy goes fully into effect on June 18. Working Group chairs are encouraged to familiarize themselves with this new practice as one element in particular may have direct impact: W3C policy is to deny TR publications for a Group if the Group no longer has an active charter. Groups who expect to update a TR document as supporting evidence for a charter extension will need to have completed that update within the current charter period. -Ralph
