-------- Original Message -------- Subject: HTML5 is a Proposed Recommendation (Call for Review) Resent-Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2014 16:28:18 +0000 Resent-From: chairs@w3.org Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2014 11:28:12 -0500 From: Ian Jacobs <ij@w3.org> To: w3c-ac-forum@w3.org <w3c-ac-forum@w3.org> CC: chairs@w3.org Chairs <Chairs@w3.org> Dear Advisory Committee Representative and Chairs, W3C is pleased to announce the advancement of HTML5 to Proposed Recommendation: HTML5 http://www.w3.org/TR/2014/PR-html5-20140916/ The approval and publication are in response to this transition request: https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/chairs/2014JulSep/0123.html In light of the normative reference policy [1], the HTML Working Group assumes [2] that the URL spec will advance from its Working Draft status to a more stable status to ensure it is sufficiently stable for a normative reference. The Director is considering whether Working Draft status is sufficient for a normative reference from HTML5. Given the broad interest in the URL specification that spans multiple organizations, it is also our objective to find a solution for this reference acceptable to all. Please review the specification and indicate whether you endorse the document as W3C Recommendation or object to its advancement by completing the following questionnaire: https://www.w3.org/2002/09/wbs/33280/html5pr-2014/ The deadline for responses is 14 October 2014. We have previously invited [3] Member participation in communications around the HTML5 Recommendation. We expect to issue a press release with Member testimonials (as we did at Candidate Recommendation [4]). We expect to have a draft press release available within two weeks to help your organization prepare a testimonial. More information about the HTML Working Group is available on the group home page: http://www.w3.org/html/wg/ If you should have any questions or need further information, please contact Robin Berjon <robin@w3.org> and Mike Smith <mike@w3.org> HTML Team Contacts. This Call for Review follows section 7.4.4 of the W3C Process Document: http://www.w3.org/2005/10/Process-20051014/tr#cfr Thank you, For Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director, Philippe Le Hegaret, Interaction Domain Lead, and Robin Berjon and Mike Smith, HTML Team Contacts; Ian Jacobs, Head of W3C Communications [1] http://www.w3.org/2013/09/normative-references [2] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/chairs/2014JulSep/0123.html [3] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-ac-members/2014JulSep/0006.html [4] http://www.w3.org/2012/12/html5-cr -- Ian Jacobs <ij@w3.org> http://www.w3.org/People/Jacobs Tel: +1 718 260 9447
