After seeing some email among Norm, Jirka, and myself, it appears we are dropping the need to be able to specify the removal of an attribute on top level included tags. For me that leaves only the following suggestions for changes to the November 26 version of http://www.w3.org/XML/2012/08/xinclude-11/ and http://www.w3.org/XML/2012/08/xinclude-11/diff.html 1. In section 3.1, the description for "Any attributes in the http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude/local-attributes namespace" should be changed to read something like: These attributes are used for copying values into attributes that are not in a namespace or These attributes are used for specifying values for attributes that are not in a namespace when doing attribute copying 2. I still think we should consider adding an xila FIXED attribute (for the local-attribute namespace) to the DTD fragment. This doesn't imply a particular prefix for this namespace any more than we imply the xi prefix, and without this declaration, any use of the xila attribute would be invalid. Readers already need to realize the limitations of using a DTD to define namespace-using markup, and having one of the namespace attributes in the fragment and not the other seems odd. If we wish, we can add something like the following to the end of the second bullet of 3 (where we mention the local-attributes namespace): For convenience, within this specification, the prefix xila may be used when referring to elements within this namespace. However, if anyone in the WG has a serious problem with this suggestion, I'm willing to withdraw it. paul
