This message is at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/xml-names-editor/2012Apr/0000 I assume the appropriate answer is to point him to XLink, but I thought I'd share this with the WG first. If someone cares to draft specific wording for an answer, that would be much appreciated. paul -------- Original Message -------- Subject: xml:href, xml:rel, xml:type Resent-Date: Fri, 06 Apr 2012 07:09:37 +0000 Resent-From: xml-names-editor@w3.org Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2012 19:09:52 +0000 From: Rushforth, Peter <Peter.Rushforth@NRCan-RNCan.gc.ca> To: xml-names-editor@w3.org <xml-names-editor@w3.org> Hi, Has it been considered to include standardized typed links into the core xml specification, in a manner that is similar to xml:base and xml:lang? If these attributes were available, xml could be a hypertext language without schema designers having to reinvent the markup for this concept, which hinders interoperability. I would suggest the following *implicitly associated* attributes in the xml namespace: href - a single URI value rel - one or more space-separated tokens or URIs, which identify the relationships the targeted resource has to the current context type - a single MIME media type Cheers, Peter Rushforth
