Here is my second draft PR transition request for XLink 1.1. fwiw, the first was last March: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-core-wg/2009Mar/0013 I note the AC-meeting-related publication moratorium is March 17-25. I'm hereby suggesting a PR publication date of February 25 (a Thursday) under the assumption that we will be able to get a transition telcon sometime before then. I am then suggesting a review end period of March 31 (the Wednesday after the AC meeting week). Norm, please use my SotD wording below to update the document's status. At the same time, please set up the document to reflect a February 25 publication date. Also please make sure the XML has a stylesheet PI that references an appropriate stylesheet. Henry, please sanity check this and express your explicit approval (or suggested amendments). paul =================================================================== The XML Core WG requests transition of XML Linking Language (XLink) Version 1.1 available at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/xmlcore/xlink11/ to a Proposed Recommendation. The URL cited above is for the most recent Member-only version of the specification as of @@ February 2010 but dated 25 February 2010 in anticipation of publication then. That directory is set up to be published by moving it to http://www.w3.org/TR/2010/PR-xlink11-20100225/ The XLink 1.1 specification had been published on 31 March 2008 at http://www.w3.org/TR/2008/WD-xlink11-20080331/ as a second Last Call. The LC review period ended 16 May 2008. The LC comments have been considered and resolved, a notification of the resolution sent to every commentor, and acceptance of the resolution by each commentor recorded in the DoC at http://www.w3.org/XML/2008/05/xlinklc/ The XLink 1.1 specification had previously been published on 28 March 2006 at http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/CR-xlink11-20060328/ as a Candidate Recommendation. As indicated in the Implementation Report at http://www.w3.org/XML/2006/01/xlink11-implementation the implementation feedback was positive, but we decided to go back to LC to incorporate references to the LEIRI WG Note at http://www.w3.org/TR/2008/NOTE-leiri-20081103/ Because of the previous successful CR and as announced at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/chairs/2008JanMar/0081 the XML Core WG is, at this time, requesting a transition directly to PR. Several review version with changes highlighted are available as referenced in the "This document is also available in these non-normative formats" section of the latest draft document. There have been no changes in patent disclosures since LC: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/18796/status#disclosures (there are no disclosures). The WG's decision to request transition to Proposed Recommendation was taken during a teleconference on 10 February 2010 whose minutes may be found at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-core-wg/2010Feb/0011 SCHEDULE We propose a publication date of 25 February 2010. IMPLEMENTATION REPORT There is an Implementation Report at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/xmlcore/xlink11/ir.html PROPOSED PR TITLE, ABSTRACT AND STATUS SECTIONS XML Linking Language (XLink) Version 1.1 Abstract -------- This specification defines the XML Linking Language (XLink) Version 1.1, which allows elements to be inserted into XML documents in order to create and describe links between resources. It uses XML syntax to create structures that can describe links similar to the simple unidirectional hyperlinks of today's HTML, as well as more sophisticated links. Status of this Document ----------------------- This section describes the status of this document at the time of its publication. Other documents may supersede this document. A list of current W3C publications and the latest revision of this technical report can be found in the W3C technical reports index at http://www.w3.org/TR/. This is a Proposed Recommendation for review by W3C members and other interested parties. This document is a product of the XML Core Working Group as part of the W3C XML Activity. The English version of this specification is the only normative version. However, for translations of this document, see http://www.w3.org/2003/03/Translations/byTechnology?technology=xlink11. Though the previous version of this document was a Last Call Working Draft, there was an earlier Candidate Recommendation version of this document that has already resulting in successful implementation feedback. Given that the changes to this draft do not affect the validity of that earlier implementation feedback, the Working Group is now publishing this version as a Proposed Recommendation. W3C Advisory Committee Representatives are invited to submit their formal review per the instructions in the Call for Review (see Advisory Committee questionnaires). The review period ends on 31 March 2010. Members of the public are also invited to send comments on this Proposed Recommendation to the public email list www-xml-linking-comments@w3.org (archive at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-xml-linking-comments/). This specification implements all of the XLink 1.1 requirements documented in [Extending XLink 1.0]. These changes make XLink more useful in the places where it is already being used and make it practical in a variety of similar vocabularies. Publication as a Proposed Recommendation does not imply endorsement by the W3C Membership. This is a draft document and may be updated, replaced or obsoleted by other documents at any time. It is inappropriate to cite this document as other than work in progress. This document was produced by a group operating under the 5 February 2004 W3C Patent Policy. W3C maintains a public list of any patent disclosures made in connection with the deliverables of the group; that page also includes instructions for disclosing a patent. An individual who has actual knowledge of a patent which the individual believes contains Essential Claim(s) must disclose the information in accordance with section 6 of the W3C Patent Policy.
