We have an XML Core WG phone call scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, from 08:00-09:00 Pacific time aka 11:00-12:00 Eastern time aka 15:00-16:00 UTC 16:00-17:00 in Ireland and the UK 17:00-18:00 in middle (most of) Europe on the Zakim W3C Bridge, +1 617 761 6200, passcode 9652#. We also use IRC channel #xmlcore on irc.w3.org:6665 . See the XML Core group page [1] for pointers to current documents and other information. If you have additions to the agenda, please email them to the WG list before the start of the telcon. Please also review our group page's task list [2] for accuracy and completeness and be prepared to amend if necessary and accept it at the beginning of the call. Agenda ====== 1. Accepting the minutes from the last telcon [3] and the current task status [2] (have any questions, comments, or corrections ready by the beginning of the call). 2. Miscellaneous administrivia and document reviews. We have a request from the Web Application Formats WG to review the Access Control for Cross-site Requests document. The draft introduces a policy for performing cross-site requests (using GET and non-GET methods) which can be used by XMLHttpRequest, XSLT, <event-source>, XBL, etc.: http://www.w3.org/TR/access-control/ Reviewing the <?access-control?> processing instruction might be of particular interest to XML Core. ACTION to Henry: Review this for XML Core. --- MathML WG points out an upcoming WD of "XML Entity definitions for Characters" and asks if anyone in the XML Core WG would be interested in reviewing this. The draft is being developed in public, http://www.w3.org/2003/entities and in particular an "editor's copy" available here: http://www.w3.org/2003/entities/2007doc/overview.html ACTION to John: Take a look at this. --- OASIS has announced another XRI document for public review: Extensible Resource Identifier (XRI) Resolution Version 2.0 The public review starts today, 3 December 2007, and ends 1 February 2008. More non-normative information about the specification and the technical committee may be found at the public home page of the TC at http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=xri. The specification document and related files are available here: Editable Source: http://docs.oasis-open.org/xri/2.0/specs/cd02/xri-resolution-V2.0-cd-02. doc PDF: http://docs.oasis-open.org/xri/2.0/specs/cd02/xri-resolution-V2.0-cd-02. pdf HTML: http://docs.oasis-open.org/xri/2.0/specs/cd02/xri-resolution-V2.0-cd-02. html ACTION to Henry: Review this for XML Core. 3. C14N The C14N 1.1 Candidate Recommendation is published at http://www.w3.org/TR/2007/CR-xml-c14n11-20070621 Known Issues with Canonical XML 1.0 (C14N/1.0) WG Note has been published at http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/NOTE-C14N-issues-20061220/ Using XML Digital Signatures in the 2006 XML Environment WG Note has been published at http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/NOTE-DSig-usage-20061220/ An almost PR-ready version of C14N 1.1 is at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2007/12/PR-xml-c14n11-20071211.html We are currently targetting 2008 January 29 for a publication date. This means having everything ready for a PR request the first week of January so that we can schedule a PR transition call and have things ready for publication in time. The following documents need to be prepared (and are already referenced from my latest version of the PR ready draft) by the first week in January: 1. an implementation report that the XML Sec WG is kindly preparing for us--current draft at http://www.w3.org/2007/xmlsec/interop/xmldsig/c14n11/report.html 2. a disposition of comments in progress is at http://www.w3.org/XML/2007/12/CR-c14n11-doc.html 3. A review version with changes from the 1.0 version highlighted--to be put at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2007/12/PR-xml-c14n11-20080129-diff.htm (not yet there). I'm hoping Norm or Henry can generate this. 4. A review version with changes from the CR version highlighted--to be put at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2007/12/PR-xml-c14n11-20080129-diff2.htm (not yet there). I'm hoping Norm or Henry can generate this. ACTION to Henry: Come up with an argument for going to PR with what will be the next draft of C14N 1.1. 4. xml:base, [baseURI], and IRIs -> HRRIs -> LEIRIs The (Second Edition) XML Base PER has been published at http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/PER-xmlbase-20061220/ Richard has produced another PER-ready draft of XML Base referencing LEIRIs at: http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/09/xmlbase-2e/ Things still to be done: - decide how to reference the not-yet-existent replacement for 3987 (referred to as 3987 bis in this draft) - correct the patent statement per http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-xml-linking-comments/2007JanMar/ 0000 - improve the formatting of references so they have links in. - see if there is anything else we were planning to fix between the old PER and REC. 4.5. HRRIs -> LEIRIs The latest HRRI draft was published as an ID on May 14 at http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-walsh-tobin-hrri-01.txt The most recent editor's draft is at http://www.w3.org/XML/2007/04/hrri/draft-walsh-tobin-hrri-01c.html Martin's latest IRI draft (defining LEIRIs in section 7) is at http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-duerst-iri-bis-01.txt We've exchanged some email with Martin about some details, but in general it looks like we'll be happy with the definition of LEIRIs in the new IRI RFC. Scheduling for the revised IRI RFC is still unclear. Paul sent email to Martin, but we have as yet received no response. 5. XLink update. The XLink CR was published at http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/CR-xlink11-20060328/ The latest almost PR-ready XLink draft is at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2004/xmlcore/xlink11/ Norm posted a DoC at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/10/xlink11-doc.html Paul wrote a SECOND draft PR request at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-core-wg/2006Dec/0059 ACTION to Norm: Complete resolution of DoC. ACTION to WG (need volunteer): Update the Implementation Report. ACTION to Norm: Produce a PR-ready draft of XLink 1.1 with a reference to the IRI RFC for LEIRIs such as: Section 5.4: replace para starting: The value of the href attribute is an XML resource identifer... with: The value of the href attribute is a LEIRI [ref]. and then delete subsection 5.4.1 but move the para about relative references up into 5.4. ACTION to Norm: Suggest any other appropriate changes to XLink 1.1. ACTION to Norm: Produce diff/review version. 6. XML 1.0/1.1 4th/2nd Editions published 2006 August 16: Extensible Markup Language (XML) 1.0 (Fourth Edition) http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-20060816 Extensible Markup Language (XML) 1.1 (Second Edition) http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml11-20060816 Henry/Richard discussed the test suite issues raised by Frans Englich: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-testsuite/2007Mar/ These need to be resolved. Richard reports that the 2005 issue has been resolved in the latest draft. The one from 2006, character references with numbers with dozens of digits, may not be. ACTION: Richard to construct a test case for these issues. Francois has updated the PE document at http://www.w3.org/XML/2006/08/proposed-xml10-4e-and-xml11-2e-errata.html including his proposed resolution of the LEIRI text. ACTION to Richard and Norm (and any others): Review http://www.w3.org/XML/2006/08/proposed-xml10-4e-and-xml11-2e-errata.html #PE161 and let us know if you have any suggested revisions to the proposed resolution. Francois' proposed resolution for the version change is PE163. Paul feels we probably need a bit more prose explaining things, but he is not sure. ACTION to Richard and John (and any others): Review http://www.w3.org/XML/2006/08/proposed-xml10-4e-and-xml11-2e-errata.html #PE163 and let us know if you have any suggested revisions to the proposed resolution. Francois has generated a PER-ready version of XML 1.0 5th Edition with approved errata (and warning about upcoming PE about LEIRIs): http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2007/12/PER-xml-20071212-review.html Please check the new note in 4.2.2. Francois has generated a PER-ready version of XML 1.1 3rd Edition with approved errata (and warning about upcoming PE about LEIRIs): http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2007/12/PER-xml11-20071212-review.html Please check the new note in 4.2.2. We plan to put the following PEs into countdown during this week's telcon: PE154, PE155, PE160, PE161, PE162, and PE163. 7. Namespaces in XML 1.0/1.1 2nd Editions published 2006 August 16: Namespaces in XML 1.0 (Second Edition) http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-names-20060816 Namespaces in XML 1.1 (Second Edition) http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xml-names11-20060816 Richard has recorded Anne's issue/proposed resolution at http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2001/05/proposed-xml-names-errata#NPE27 ACTION to Richard: Look into Anne's (two) comments at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/xml-names-editor/2007Oct/ 8. XML 1.0 5th Edition We have consensus to change the name char productions in XML 1.0 5th Ed. We also have consensus to allow XML 1.0 processors to accept documents labelled version="1.x". Other character changes remain to be decided (though the status quo is not to make any others). In particular: ACTION to Henry: Check with Noah how IBM feels about #x85. 9. XInclude 3rd Edition XInclude 2nd Edition is at: http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/REC-xinclude-20061115 LEIRI-related changes for the 3rd Edition: 3.1, href attribute is a LEIRI See also 4.1.1 (details TBD) which can't reference XML 1.1 since we don't define XML Resource Identifiers in XML 1.1. Just replace that para with the "They are LEIRIs" para. ACTION to Daniel: Produce a PER-ready draft of XInclude 3rd Ed with appropriate references to the IRI RFC for LEIRIs.
