-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Further to the decision of the WG regarding John Cowan's discovering spurious spaces in the new versions of the XML RECs, I've proceeded as follows: 1) Quantified the problem (60 instances in XML 1.1 2e, 59 in XML 1.0 4e); 2) Understood the problem (it arises because of reflowing of paragraphs containing the sequence <quote><code>...</code></quote> in the XML original into the form <quote> <code>...</code> </quote> Presumably this was a side-effect of some edit-and-save operation at some point. . . 3) Corrected the problem, in both the XML original _and_ the HTML, by hand. I did _not_ regenerate the HTML using XSLT, as that would have changed the autogenerated section anchors, which may already be link targets in the published versions. . . 4) Changed the front matter to read W3C Recommendation 16 August 2006, edited in place 21 September 2006 5) Changed the SoTD to include On 21 September 2006 this document was edited in place to remove a number of spurious and potentially misleading spaces. Could you all, please, inspect http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/08/xml10-4e/Overview.html http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/08/xml11-2e/Overview.html and confirm that you're happy, or suggest changes (aside from changing the 21 September date) that would _make_ you happy, at which point I'll organise making this happen with the webmaster (we can discuss the process issues involved on the telcon). Thanks for your help, sorry this is so finicky, but with our headline XML RECs we have to be careful. Note that I have _not_ included the review (diff-marked) versions in this exercise -- once the RECs are sorted, I'll just do those myself w/o involving the webmaster. ht - -- Henry S.
