Transition Request: PER Request for Namespaces in XML 1.1 Second Edition

The XML Core WG requests publication of
Namespaces in XML 1.1 (Second Edition)
available at
http://www.w3.org/XML/Group/2006/04/xml-names-2e/xml-names-11-2e.html
as a Proposed Edited Recommendation (PER).

The URL cited above is for the most recent Member-only
version of the specification as of 2 June 2006 but
dated 14 June 2006 in anticipation of publication then.

That file is set up to be published by moving it to
http://www.w3.org/TR/2006/PER-xml-names11-20060614/Overview.html

The Namespaces in XML 1.1 First Edition was published on
4 February 2004 at http://www.w3.org/TR/2004/REC-xml-names11-20040204/
The Errata document for the First Edition is at
http://www.w3.org/XML/2004/xml-names11-errata
This Second Edition incorporates these errata. In addition,
there are several editorial changes, including a number of
terminology changes and additions intended to produce greater
consistency. The non-normative appendix "The Internal Structure
of XML Namespaces" has been removed.

The WG's decision to request publication as a PER was taken
during a WG telcon on 2006 May 31 whose minutes may be found at
http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-xml-core-wg/2006May/0068

SCHEDULE

We propose a publication date of 2006 June 14.

We propose that the PER period lasts from the date of publication
until 31 July 2006.

PROPOSED PER TITLE, ABSTRACT AND STATUS SECTIONS

Abstract
