Dear Advisory Committee representative, This is a W3C Patent Policy Call for Exclusions for the following Recommendation Track documents: - XHTML™ 1.1 - Module-based XHTML - Second Edition (http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/), exclusion opportunity ending on 16 July 2007 - XML Events 2 (http://www.w3.org/TR/xml-events), exclusion opportunity ending on 16 July 2007 These specifications were produced by the XHTML2 Working Group (under its previous name, the HTML Working Group). If you do not wish to exclude patent claims during this exclusion opportunity, no further action is required. Participants will make a Royalty-Free licensing commitment upon (re-)joining this Working Group. With the transition of this group to the W3C Patent Policy and per the Patent Policy Transition Procedure [0], Participants have an opportunity until 16 July 2007 to exclude patent claims reading on these documents. For more information about exclusions, please see http://www.w3.org/Consortium/Patent-Policy-20040205/#sec-Exclusion To make exclusions, please use the following form: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/32107/exclude The Patent Policy anticipates that the documents will evolve during the 90 days following the first publication. Per section 4.1 of the Patent Policy [1], whatever draft is available on 17 May 2007 establishes the reference material for the purposes of this exclusion opportunity. Just after 17 May 2007, we will send a reminder and identify the reference draft. Due to the anticipated instability of the documents prior to 17 May 2007, Participants may wish to exclude any claims only after publication of the reference draft (and no later than the end of the exclusion opportunity). Per section 4.2 of the Patent Policy [2], a Participant may resign from the Working Group before 17 May 2007 and be excused from all licensing commitments arising out of Working Group participation. To resign from the Working Group before 17 May 2007, please use the following form: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/32107/join Summary information for this group related to the W3C Patent Policy is available at: http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/32107/status If you have any questions or need further information, please contact, for the XHTML2 Working Group: * Steven Pemberton at steven.pemberton@cwi.nl For more information on the W3C Patent Policy and patent claim exclusions, see: http://www.w3.org/2003/12/22-pp-faq Note: These documents were first published as Working Drafts within the past 90 days; I will be sending another Call for Exclusion for documents published more than 91 days ago, per the Patent Policy Transition Procedure [0].
