response on ACTION-1, use of Tracker

Dear URW3 participants,

This is in response to the action I got at the last telecon to give
some guidance on the use of Tracker. The documentation is fairly
straightforward and can be found at http://www.w3.org/2005/06/
tracker/. This email will provide some immediate highlights.

The URW3 Tracker instance is at http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/urw3/
tracker/. The sidebar on the right is the navigation to all the key
things Tracker tracks. For example, if you click All under Actions,
you will see all the actions Tracker captured from our last telecon.

Note from http://www.w3.org/2005/06/tracker/irc, Tracker likes to see
the action entered in IRC in the form (and giving the result)

<dino> ACTION: Dean to dance like a monkey - due next Friday
* trackbot noticed an ACTION. Trying to create it.
<trackbot> Created ACTION-171 - Dance like a monkey [on Dean - due
2005-07-08].

The basic format is:

ACTION: <user> to <title> - due <when>
or
ACTION: <user> to <title>

Recall from the last telecon, the trackbot was unhappy when we
assigned things to the Editing Team because it couldn't recognize it
as a user.

If you want to work on an issue, action, or other tracked item, click
the appropriate category link, such as Open under Actions. This
gives you the list of open action. Note, if you click All, you will
see a 4th action which I closed earlier today.

Click on an action (or issue if in an issues list) and you get the
details. If you want to add something, click on the Edit link on the
lower right.

I just did this and added the line, "Sending email shortly and we
will see how it links to this action." I then clicked the Update
button, and the entry showed up under Related notes. In the title of
this email, I have ACTION-1 because Tracker should be monitoring this
list and should connect this email when seeing this either in the
title or text of the email. When I send this, we'll see what happens.

At this point, I am not sure what other guidance to provide, but I
expect we'll come up with questions as we proceed.

I will add the Tracker link to our home pages when I next edit those.

Let me know if there are other questions I can try to answer or
forward on to the Sys Team.

Ken
