All, Our West Coast US participant, Francis Fung, can start a little earlier and early responses strongly indicate a preference for Thursday. Therefore, the proposal is for the telecon to be Thursday, April 19 at 06:30 PDT (West Coast US) 09:30 EDT (East Coast US) 14:30 Britain 15:30 Europe (most) 16:30 Greece 23:30 Australia I have not yet heard from a majority of people and do not want to schedule a meeting unless almost everyone can attend. Please let me know if this time works for you and, if not, what times next week will be more available. I will be on the West Coast US most of next week but I should be able to make a call any day. Ken +++ 16 April 2007 (US East Coast) email +++ All, I've just heard from Anne Cregan at NICTA in Australia and she suggested the following telecon times as more convenient for her and likely for others: 7:00 PDT (West Coast US) 10:00 EDT (East Coast US) 15:00 Britain 16:00 Europe (most) 17:00 Greece > 24:00 Australia Also, my apologies for our colleagues at IVML-NTUA because I missed that Greece is an hour later than most of Europe. Please consider these times when you respond with your preferences. Thanks, Ken +++ 15 April 2007 (US East Coast) email +++ Dear URW3-XG participants, Welcome to everyone! After an extended joining period (which I am not sure is yet complete), the time has come for getting down to work. I would like to schedule an initial telephone call and our first challenge will be coming up with a time. We are a geographically diverse group and it will be a challenge to find a time that minimizes inconvenience for all. Currently, one of our sponsors is located in Australia but has not yet joined the XG. However, I would like to schedule the first call at a time that allows them to participate, and we will discuss a regular meeting time as part of our first call. If I have my time zones correct, I propose as a time 13:00 PDT (West Coast US) 16:00 EDT (East Coast US) 21:00 Britain 22:00 Europe 06:00 (next day) Australia (eastern) and I will reserve 90 minutes for the call. For the date, I propose either Wednesday, April 18 (Thursday in Australia) or Thursday, April 19 (Friday in Australia). If this is not convenient for everyone, we can look for something the week of April 22, but I wanted to try for something more immediate if that is possible. Please get back to me as soon as possible and let me know (1) which date you prefer and (2) which dates, if any, are not possible for you. If the suggested dates and times do not work for you, please suggest alternatives. Each W3C group has both a public and a member-only mailing list. I am sending this email on the public mailing list because I want to include several people who have not completed the joining process. One of the topics of our first call will be to decide whether to conduct the bulk of our work using the public or the member-only list. Please let me know your meeting preferences and I will follow with call details. For myself and my co-chair, thank you for your interest and energy, and we look forward to working with you all.
