Hey all, We've prepared a couple of new slide decks that explain PaySwarm in a bit more depth: A very short introduction to PaySwarm: http://payswarm.com/slides/intro/#(1) Explanation of how PaySwarm works over OAuth: http://payswarm.com/slides/website-payswarm/#(1) How Browser-based P2P PaySwarm works: http://payswarm.com/slides/browser-payswarm/#(1) How PaySwarm uses Digital Contracts to perform transactions: http://payswarm.com/slides/contracts/#(1) The slide decks are linked off of the payswarm.com landing page. The most interesting bit that we're working on, related to discussion in this group, is the PaySwarm over OAuth work. We have figured out how to integrate WebID with OAuth and are discussing how to implement that at the moment. We only have the latest IETF OAuth 1.0 draft implemented in code, but plan to implement OAuth 2 once it stabilizes a bit more. Performing PaySwarm over OAuth doesn't allow us to do any of the cool payment swarming stuff, but it does allow for a standardized micropayment mechanism that blogs and for-profit websites could employ to bill people for access to particular Web resources (like audio blogs, streaming music, financial news stories, SaaS, Web Apps, etc.). The mechanism could employ WebID for both identity and PaySwarm Authority (effectively, one's bank on the Web) specification. We're working on a quick demo to demonstrate how a newspaper site could leverage the technology to provide the first half of an article for free and the last half of the article as for-pay. The mechanism effectively grants the newspaper site a limited debit access - up to, for example, $1. The newspaper site can use this PaySwarm Token (aka: OAuth token) to charge for per-article access without bothering the person that is browsing every time a one cent transaction needs to occur. -- manu -- Manu Sporny (skype: msporny, twitter: manusporny) President/CEO - Digital Bazaar, Inc. blog: Myth Busting Web Stacks - PHP is Faster Than You Think http://blog.digitalbazaar.com/2010/06/12/myth-busting-php/2/
