Well, given the earlier point, ideally at some point it would be great if FOAF would incorporate direct mappings of PortableContacts, which is then in turn a superset of vCard. Thus, vCard would be a strict subset of FOAF. However, I'm not sure what the FOAF community wants here precisely. I'd be happy to use Social Web XG call time to have this discussion. > > Best > Hugh > > On 12/02/2010 01:38, "Josef Petrák" <me@jspetrak.name> wrote: > >> Good question, Renato. >> >> Looking at both ontologies FOAF is about describing both people and >> groups/organisations and relations between people or membership in such >> groups. >> >> vCard [1] proposes concept of business card which can describe people, >> organisation or both. see the definition of vc:VCard: "Resources that are >> vCards and the URIs that denote these vCards can also be the same URIs that >> denote people/orgs" And in my opionion this is quite messy. >> >> I hope, it answers you question abouot nontechnical point of view. >> >> Josef >> >> [1] http://www.w3.org/Submission/vcard-rdf/ >> >> On Feb 12, 2010, at 12:58 AM, Renato Iannella wrote: >> >>> On 12 Feb 2010, at 01:03, Josef Petrák wrote: >>> >>>> This could introduce official way to integrade and distinguish FOAF and >>>> vCard. >>> >>> Changing the thread a little (and at the risk of being controversial...;-)... >>> >>> What are the "big" or "key" *differences* between FOAF [1] and vCard [2]? >>> >>> (not "technical" diffs...) >>> >>> Cheers...
