Agenda: Social Web XG Meeting Nov 25th: T16:00-17:00GMT

Everyone,

The Social Web XG is back on the roll, this time with Eran
Hammer-Lahav, the Director of Yahoo!'s standards development, and
contributor to OAuth, OpenID, the Open Web Foundation, and all sorts
of other specs. This time he'll be talking about the role of *linking*
in discovering what capabilities and protocols a site may be capable
of, and this is of crucial interest to social networking sites. For
example, given an e-mail address of your friend, can you discover
what social networking sites they're on, as to discover where their
photos are? And to move into an eample, then given a URI for a site
with their photos, what are their privacy settings? This all requires

Actually, maybe starting with WebFinger (as introduced by DanBri a
while back) might be best - check out this blog post:
http://hueniverse.com/2009/08/introducing-webfinger/ if you haven't
already. So, imagine WebFinger getting an e-mail account, then
retrieving the XRD via host-meta, and sorting all sorts of neat
applications out.
