hello, everyone... I'm Jeff Sonstein and I teach in the Information Technology Department at the Rochester Institution of Technology in the US my background is also varied with academic training in the Humanities & Social Sciences experience playing with computers dating back to the early 70s and a current R&D focus on handheld/mobile devices... I founded & currently run the virtual "Center for the Handheld Web" at http://chw.rit.edu/blog/ I am a member of W3C's Mobile Web Best Practices Working Group I teach about all things Webbish at RIT as well as about XML and related software technologies but my passion is a holdover from my undergraduate days: the interpenetrating webs of social affiliation which can be expressed today within social networking sites & technologies I like the way Harry put it and also "strongly believe that the user should own their own data" I am very much looking forward to the work of this group in helping define ways people & systems can work together to better knit the social web jeffs -- "Power corrupts PowerPoint corrupts absolutely" -- Edward Tufte -- ============ Prof. Jeff Sonstein http://www.it.rit.edu/~jxs/ http://ariadne.iz.net/~jeffs/ http://chw.rit.edu/blog/ http://ariadne.iz.net/~jeffs/jeffs.asc http://www.it.rit.edu/~jxs/emailDisclaimer.html
