Hello everyone. I've joined the XG a few days ago, and I would like to introduce myself to the group. I'm Andrea Perego, and I'm currently a PostDoc researcher and contract professor at the University of Varese-Como, Italy [1], where I'm a member of the Database and Web Security research group [2], headed by Prof. Elena Ferrari, which I'm representing. I'm a member and editor of the W3C POWDER WG [3], chaired by Phil Archer, and I've been and I am currently involved in European projects, such as EUFORBIA [4], QUATRO [5], the DELOS Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries [6], and QUATRO Plus [5]. My original research areas concern content-based access control for distributed systems, Web content filtering and Web access personalisation. The trait d'union among these topics is the use of policies denoting users and resources by putting constraints on the metadata associated with them. For these reasons, Semantic Web technologies and their applications have been and still are one of my main interests. In recent years, my colleagues and I have focused our research work on Web-based social networks, taking into account two main issues. The former concerns the enforcement of privacy protection and access control mechanisms, where authorised users are denoted in terms of the existing in/direct personal and trust relationships. The latter issue concerns the exploitation of data collected by collaborative labelling/tagging Web communities in order to personalise access to Web content. In such a scenario, trust and/or reputation play a fundamental role as means to determine whether and/or how much the available metadata provide an accurate and trustworthy description of the resources they are associated with. My interest in participating to the Social Web XG concerns the following issues: - Giving social network members as much control as possible on how their information and resources are accessed and used - Policy frameworks for the Social Web - Distributed architectures for the Social Web - Supporting "persistent" identity in the Social Web - Promoting pervasive support to trust and reputation in the Social Web - Exploiting Social Web data in order to enhance Web access - Using Semantic Web technologies to support data integration and interoperability in the Social Web Looking forward to working with you!
