[ACTION-56 CLOSED] User Story: Business Advantages of Open Protocols

I have an action to write up this user story. With this e-mail, I
consider is closed. I'm posting this to the mailing list instead of
adding to Wiki because I know Henry is in the middle of overhauling the
stories on the Wiki.

== Goal ==

Isaac wants to get as many people to join Social Network X as possible.

== Summary ==

Isaac has recently started a new social networking site (Social Network
X) where people review hamster cages socially. At a barbecue he meets a
few friends of friends who have heard of his site and thought it an
interesting idea, but not use the site.

Alice explains that she is tired of typing in the same details (name,
e-mail, age, location, etc) every time she wants to use a new social
site, then waiting for a confirmation e-mail to click on. She had tried
to join Social Network X a few days ago, but only got as far as filling
in two fields before her hamster started screaming and she needed to
urgently care for it. She never ended up completing the sign-up process.

Bob explains that he did manage to sign up and tried adding his friend
Alice to his list of trusted cage reviewers (i.e. "buddies list"), but
couldn't find her. He also wanted to find out which of his hundreds of
friends from Social Network B were also signed up for Social Network X,
but didn't want to search for each one manually.

Carol says she considered signing up to his site, but wanted to make
sure she'd be able to get her data back out again, so that she could
mirror her own reviews on her personal blog.

Isaac realises that by implementing open protocols for importing and
exporting data, he can reduce these barriers to entry and sign up more
people to his site, hence sell more advertising to hamster cage
manufacturers.
