[MMSEM] Introducing a new member: Tobias Bürger (DERI Innsbruck)

Dear all,

allow me to introduce myself: My name is Tobias Bürger. I'm a
researcher at DERI Innsbruck [1] and a PhD candidate at the University
of Innsbruck. Additionally to that I'm employed as a researcher at
Salzburg Research [2],
where I mainly work in projects connected to the Salzburg New Media
Lab [3], which
is a competence center for new media in Austria.
The main focus of my work lies in the combination of multimedia and
semantic web technologies from different perspectives.

My interest in the work of the group orginate from different directions:
There are first personal interests, because my PhD work is centered
around semantic multimedia content models and second there are
work-related interests because I'm currently involved in three (IST or
national) projects that deal with multimedia semantics:
* First of all SALERO [4]: Where I work for DERI and there closely
together with Joanneum Research on the definition of an multimedia
ontology (language) for SALERO.
* Second LIVE [5]: This project is about broadcasting of huge media
events and our role (here I work for Salzburg Research) is to develop
an intelligent media framework that is centered around so called
Intelligent Media Assets that essentially are or will be semantic
enriched content objects that combine/integrate metadata from
different sources that is available for specific multimedia items.
* Last GRISINO [6] - a project that is lead by me and which is about
the combination of Grid Technology, Semantic Web Services and
Intelligent Content Objects. This project once again is centered
around so called intelligent content objects as a specialization of
the KCO model developed by the METOKIS project [7], which is a highly
formalized semantic content model.

In the past I was involved in a project called Smart Content Factory
in which we semantically enhanced television news stories.

I also participated in the first meeting of the Harmonization of Multimedia
Ontologies activity where I presented the KCO model.

I hope that I can provide valuable input to the work of this group and
hope to hear and read from you soon.

Best regards,

Tobias
