I think this meeting may be a little on the fringe of the interests of this XG because of a focus more on the learning technology/education domains, however there is probably some overlap in the discussions about applications of semantic web, use of standards like Dublin Core, achieving interoperability etc. I'm not really sure if there is scope for a LLD XG position paper, or a presentation on the work of the group, or if it is all too tangential. Whereas previously the emphasis was on policy and process and the relationship between formal and informal standards-development models, this time we will focus on the technical approaches to creating standards: how should we model and document standards. This could include questions of structure/segmentation, arguments about application of semantic web approaches, application models in relation to core models, how to handle statements about conformance./ /More information is available on the agenda page which also includes an invitation to submit position papers. NB: you can still submit a paper or notify us of a blog post etc even if you do not wish or are not able to attend./ *Date:* 24 Sep 2010 *Agenda:* hyperlink http://wiki.cetis.ac.uk/Future_of_Interoperability_Standards_September_2010 *Contact:* Adam Cooper <mailto:a.r.cooper@bolton.ac.uk> *Location:* The Fish Room, Royal Society of Chemistry, Burlington House, London. http://www.rsc.org/AboutUs/Contacts/BH.asp This event is in association with the ICOPER Best Practice Network, http://www.icoper.org/. -- Dr Christina Smart JISC e-learning programme journalist, JISC CETIS, The Institute for Educational Cybernetics, University of Bolton, Bangor office, Technium CAST, Ffordd Penlan, Parc Menai Business Park, Bangor LL57 4HJ IEC Masters in Learning with Technology || http://www.bolton.ac.uk/IEC/Courses.aspx c.smart@bolton.ac.uk http://jisc.cetis.ac.uk/ Tel:01248 675362
