Plans of the Digital Objects cluster team

Hi,

We, the "editors" of the Digital Objects cluster [1] (Jodi, Asaf, Mark),
are considering our next steps and came up with the following:

1) considering which UCs belong to our cluster.

There are some orphan UCs which we can put in our cluster.

There's also some possible overlap with the Citation cluster we need to
sort out - some UCs might belong in either or in both.

We've established the rule of thumb that when the main function in the
UC is to aggregate different objects into one object, it belongs in the
DO cluster.

2) homogenizing the descriptions of UCs.

There seems to be e.g. a lot of variation in how people write down the
UC goals, but actually mean the same thing. We might even establish a
few goal descriptions which are reusable in many UCs.

For example, the goal-1 (independent of LD) in our UCs tend to be
aggregation of resources so people can find additional material related
to a publication.

The goal-2 (where LD can help) is to reuse existing vocabularies
(schemas such as ORE) and existing vocabularies of persons, books, etc.

3) provide links to vocabularies and example records used in UCs.

4) check which part of UC is done and which is future work

For example, we haven't been able to establish yet whether the Scholarly
Debate UC [2] (in the Citations cluster) actually already has links
between books / authors in their data, or whether this is future work.

Best,
Mark.
