It is a good work! I think that latitude longitude information is the most basic geographic information, and ISO6709 is suitable as the common notation for that. I think that basic libraries are not maintained and biasing to abstract standardization induces it. We SVG Map consortium are settling on the profile of SVG for Web Mapping.
