Hi Josh, I probably won't be able to make todays telecon. There are a few things that the we would like to start thinking about through the group, that perhaps we can discuss in more detail in forthcoming telecons. These include: 1) Best practices for spatial/geographic ontologies. As with programming you cannot just sitting down with a java development environment and create good software unless you know something about patterns and methods. We thing to make the most of OWL (and related technologies) we need more good ontologies. Perhaps we could set some guide lines and methodologies. These could specialise some of the work that is going on in the semantic web best practices group for the geospatial domain. Ontology methodologies is something we have been thinking about at Ordnance Survey for some time. 2) Usecases: it would be interesting to see what people intended to use semantic web technologies for in the geospatial domain. We are interested in semantic integration between different datasets, and data repurposing using ontologies. Do other people have interesting usecases? I be interested to hear you thoughts on these. Any comments or suggestions? regards, John ________________________________ From: member-xg-geo-request@w3.org on behalf of Joshua Lieberman Sent: Mon 20/11/2006 13:48 To: GeoXG GeoXG; GeoXG GeoXG Subject: Agenda for today's telecon Hi, In today's Geospatial XG telecon, I'd like to concentrate on the Geo ontology update ( http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/geo/ GeoUpdate.html ), what needs to be done and by whom.
