If the control element has no binding, the embedded XForm must either contain no shared <https://www.w3.org/community/xformsusers/wiki/XForms_2.0#structure-shared-element> element, or one without a binding, otherwise an xforms-binding-error <https://www.w3.org/community/xformsusers/wiki/XForms_2.0#evt-bindingError> is dispatched to the control element. It seems to me that if we wanted it, the <control/> element could embed non-XForms with a slight rewording of this sentence. However, since it is not the aim of the element, I'm not sure if we really want it. E.g. <control resource="cat.gif"/> is not really the purpose of the element. Steven
