petname definition for ACTION-391

A petname is an identifier selected by the user to identify some entity. The collection of petnames selected by the user forms a personal namespace for entities of interest to the user. A petname presentation only identifies such entities by their petname, or an indication that the entity has no corresponding petname. Similarly, in communicating with the presentation, the user can refer to such an entity by its petname. The petname presentation provides a bidirectional mapping between the petname chosen by the user and the entity's global identifier. This translation layer facilitates user interaction with entities whose global identifier is unwieldy for a human, such as a public key; or susceptible to misinterpretation, such as a DNS hostname.
