web conferencing for showing demonstrations or presenting information

Hi all,

I know that this group has discussed in the past the possibility of using 
some type of web conferencing software in order to share presentations or 
show demonstrations during our weekly conference calls/IRC chats.

One of the challenges, it seems, is to be able to do this across the 
widely diverse set of platforms we are all using (Windows, Mac, Linux).

IBM happens to have a web conferencing site which might provide some 
capabilities that would be useful to the group.  Meetings have to be 
scheduled by an IBM employee, but are able to be used by people outside of 
IBM.  Attendees to the web conference are able to share their screens and 
collaborate on a "whiteboard".

Not all browsers and not all system types are listed as supported.  But I 
have used this from my Linux system and have seen it work from a Windows 
system.

Note - the help text on the pages above takes on a whole new significance 
when considered in relation to the goals of our group (examples: "turn off 
pop-up blockers" and "accept security warnings if you want to attend the 
conference")

I invite discussion on the possibility of using this web conferencing tool 
as a means of sharing screens for demonstration purposes during selected 
working group meetings/calls.
