The WS-RA WG reviewed your issue on "Transfer: Support for
WS-Management's RequestEPR feature" [1] on May 11th [2] and 12th [3]
2010, during its face to face meeting. After discussion, the WG agreed
to close this issue with no changes to the WS-Transfer specification.
The following points were made:
1. This is a broader issue, in that it affects more than the
WS-Transfer Put operation. There are many operations and events
which could also cause such an EPR change - as such this an issue
that is bigger than what WS-RA is chartered to work on. For
example, if a Transfer Put induced state change on a resource
results it a change of its EPR, then that same EPR might change
due to state changes due to other stimuli associated with the
resource.
2. In such an environment, we suggest that using a specific event
report notification, perhaps defined as part of WS-Management,
such as "state change induced EPR change", would be a better
solution. Using a notification would allow all parties which need
to track EPR changes to register for receiving that event report.
Please indicate via an email response as to whether this resolution of
your issue is satisfactory.
