Re: Last Call Issue: CORRELATION OF CHANNEL INSTANCES

Although Last Call period is not finished until the end of this month, we would like to propose a mechanism to solve the problem that Steve and I raised with this last call issue.

At this stage we would just like to start an email discussion regarding this mechanism, to flesh out any questions/concerns regarding the approach. Then possibly in two weeks we could have a discussion about it on the conference call.

Once we have a common understanding of the concept, and have general acceptance, then we will put together a more formal proposal regarding changes to the CDL specification document.

Regards
Gary and Steve.

Subject: Last Call Issue: CORRELATION OF CHANNEL INSTANCES

Currently it is not possible to monitor messages for different channel instances, and associate those separate channel instances to the same choreography session. Correlation information is required to bind the multiple channel instances to the same choreography session.

Messages on a particular instance of a channel type should also not be expected to all have the same 'identity' field, as a means of correlating the message to the channel instance. This places unnecessary constraints on the author of a business protocol.
