Meeting minutes

  Minutes

   <kaz> [23]Sep-8

     [23] https://www.w3.org/2021/09/08-wot-minutes.html

Sebastian: goes over the minutes from the last meeting

Kaz: note we should ask Jan to introduce himself (after the
   minutes review)

McCool: wrong potential dates in the schedule for the plugfest,
   should be 26, 27, 28

Resolution: Update the resolution from last week: Adopt the
   following schedule - Plugfest Sept 27-Oct 1; vF2F Oct 5, 7, 26,
   27, 28; and Joint meetings Oct 25-29

<kaz> (prev minutes' resolution has been also fixed)

McCool: if we change the minutes, we change the resolution. As
it is a typo it is not a problem, though

No objections to the changed minutes

  Intro from Jan

   Jan: studying computer science
… working on WoT, etc., for the past years
… one of my key interest areas
   … working with Philipp
   … using node-wot
… interested in creating reusable models
… and very happy to join the group

   Sebastian: welcome!
… introduces the WoT welcome pages
… if you have any questions, don't hesitate to let us know

   Jan: ok, thanks!

  Quick updates

    DIoT Workshop

DIoT conference takes place in November (8-12)

McCool: Unfortunately, I can't attend in person, though can
   attend virtualy.

Sebastian: If you are interested, feel free to submit papers to
   the conference

    Marketing

Sebastian: Updates to the WoT web page have been approved in
   the marketing call

    WoT-JP CG

Mizushima: WoT-JP CG is launching four task forces, Deployment,
Outrerach, Translation and Usecases. I hope to be able to work
someting with WoT WG and IG. For example PlugFest, Translation.

    Open Day guest candidates

Sebastian: New startup, Netzo, which active in the area of Web
   of Things
… discussed in the chair meeting to invite them to open day
… Takenaka Coperation, a Japanese Construction Company, is also
   interested in Web of Things

McCool: Last open day was a bit full

Lagally: Quick question on Netzo: Do we know more about them?
In which region are they active?

Sebastian: Not much information, there is a Youtube channel,
would be interesting to ask them what they are doing.
… The company is from Munich
… Their web page only says "Coming Soon".
… Very cool that they want to make a business with WoT, though

Sebastian: Takenaka made a press release that they are using
   WoT

Kaz: Very big construction company, using WoT for their
building management system., submitted a research paper on the
use of WoT,would be great if they could also join the Open Day.

McCool: We should get Use Case input from them

  Moderation of TFs

    Marketing TF

Sebastian: I would like to step down as lead of Marketing Call
… would propose Fady as a successor as lead of Marketing Call
… Fady is kind of the successor to Ege as doctoral student at
   TUM

Sebastian: Fady is working with Ege, also on tutorial videos

Lagally: Would be great to have a marketing expert as a
   co-moderator
… maybe some of the Japanese members could think about
   marketing for the Japanese market

McCool: We need three things: Tutorials, website and business.
Business is missing at the moment

Sebastian: Let us know if someone would like to join this
   effort
… welcome to Fady as the new chair of the marketing call

Kaz: Not objecting Fady as new lead of marketing call, but
regarding the collaboration from the JP Members, I think we
should ask the WoT-JP CG for help :)

   Sebastian: good point

    Testing TF

Sebastian: Similar situation with the testing call

McCool: Would be great if someone else could organize the
   Plugfests in the future
… will still organize this one, however

  TPAC 2021

Sebastian: We'll start in two weeks on monday with the first
   Plugfest call
… and then continue with F2F calls in the week after

Sebastian: ECLASS and OPC-UA meetings can probably be postponed

Sebastian: Something else to share here?

Lagally: If we think about outreach, maybe we could reconsider
meeting with them and others, keeping a timeslot for a OPC-UA
   meeting

Sebastian: Maybe we should make a decision if we want to speak
with them on the Use-Case call

   Lagally: Agrees

Lagally: Maybe a wider audience could be good for outreach

Lagally: Is there something else we can do to promote WoT?

Sebastian: OPC-UA binding for WoT is probably interesting for
   them
… we have to make them aware of the benefits of WoT
… not the other way around

McCool: Maybe have a presentation how to use WoT for external
organizations on Open Day, together with external actors

Sebastian: We have to schedule the Open Day soon

McCool: Doodle has not been created, yet

Action: kaz to create a doodle to find preferred slots for
   OpenDay meetings

McCool: let's create one today and send it to people we want to
   invite

   kaz will create a doodle

Sebastian: To all taskforce leads: Create input for the agenda

McCool: goes over the potential schedule for liaison meetings

<kaz> (btw, Kaz has allocated WebEx for the vF2F meeting and
added the information to the F2F wiki)

  New Working Group Charter

   <kaz> [24]GH Issue 978 - WG renewal

     [24] https://github.com/w3c/wot/issues/978

McCool: question: What are new deliverables?
… please provide input for what can be added
   … for example profiles

McCool: Not critical but good input for TPAC discussions

  Smart Cities

   Kaz: Nothing new yet

  Testing

Kaz: let's continue the discussion during the Plugfest call
   later

  Publication Planning

Lagally: One comment on Liasons: PR for adding contributing
   SDOs to Use-Case document

McCool: We need to clarify what the contributions actually are

Lagally: Should be discussed in next Use-Case call

  Additional documents

McCool: Created a spin-off document for TD signatures

Sebastian: We will discuss more in TD call

  TF reports

Lagally: Good progress in architecture meeting

<kaz> [adjourned; Plugfest call in 10mins]
