Re: [WoT-Discovery] WoT Discovery + Augmented Reality Meeting on Tues January 19 @ 11 AM Eastern

That sounds fine. Let's follow up in the issue. I hope to find time before the meeting to do some background reading so feel free to point at relevant specs/articles/etc. in the issue tracker.

    Hello,

I would like to provide some background, in case there is confusion about this proposed meeting on January 19

In December 2020, there was a meeting between WoT and SDWIG/SDWWG (during the OGC TC meeting). During that meeting I heard about the work of this group on Discovery and asked if there would be benefit to exchanging information about what the Open AR Cloud is doing on topic of Discovery for Augmented Reality and to exchange requirements and notes.

In order to involve them in setting up a discussion and contributing to the next steps, I invited all those who expressed interest during the December meeting and three people who are part of the Open AR Cloud association. They are:
    - James Jackson Director of Engineering @OARC
    - Jan-Erik Vinje, Managing Director @OARC
    - Tony Hodgson, Ethar and OARC member.

My original goals were (and remain) to have this meeting in order for:
        1. James and Jan-Erik to share with Rob, Kaz and Michael M and others who are in WoT WG what the OARC has implemented in a reference architecture testbed (the OSCP) for discovery, and for OARC to hear/learn and study what WOT is doing for Discovery
        2. to explore how GeoPose may be used for location in WoT and
        3. make sure that Jan-Erik, James, Tony and others are informed and maybe to participate in the work in W3C, IETF and other groups that could be valuable for the universal support of AR Discovery.

But, perhaps these are not the goals of the WoT Discovery members. So… I suggested that we "back up” a bit and make sure that the goals and agenda are clear.

I have put logistics and draft of proposed agenda, and a comment about my original goals (above) in issue #955 [1]

Prior to the January 19 meeting, I will review/edit the use cases that Rob Smith proposed. I also invite others in WoT to add their goals in the issue #955.

    Warm regards,
