coralie, yes, we would like to discuss some things

   <koalie> ok

Kaz: animation video captioning in the agenda?

Sebastian: yes, one of the issues

   <kaz> [10]Feb-16

     [10] https://www.w3.org/2021/02/16-wot-marketing-minutes.html

Sebastian: animation, captions, hosting of video, pr about
video thumbnail, documentation page updates, action to look at
all issues related to web pages (will cover today)

   Sebastian: any objections to publish?
   … no, to be published

project on github for IoT projects

Sebastian: interesting project, high ranked, would be good to
   list WoT
… daniel to provide a PR; just a link, but which URI should be
   use?
… should we wait for the new web site?

   Sebastian: probably we should wait

<sebastian> [11]URL for the WoT Welcome page (currently used
   for the WoT Landing page)

     [11] https://www.w3.org/WoT/

Sebastian: this will be the new main web page, end of this
   week, most likely

   <koalie> [12]https://validator.w3.org/checklink?url=https://
   www.w3.org/WoT/

     [12] https://validator.w3.org/checklink?url=https://www.w3.org/WoT/

also, is there a tool to check web pages?

Kaz: yes, there is a tool, link checker

Daniel: do you want to check that

   <koalie> [13]W3C Link Checker

     [13] https://validator.w3.org/checklink

<kaz> kaz: please go ahead and check it :)

<koalie> [also the ",checklink" suffix on any w3.org URL that
is public, is a useful tool]

after fixing the english, will merge the PR directly and send
daniel an email so he can do the HTML check

Kaz: also ran the spell checker and fixed some typos in the
   captions

Sebastian: but there is still the question about where to host
   the video?

Kaz: don't think that is an open question, should be on W3C

McCool: my question was not about hosting, but where to archive
   it

<koalie> I believe it's stored. Unless you plug a player in
which case that depends on the player.

McCool: does the W3C video server
   … downscale?

koalie: no extra compression when the video is archived in W3C
   site
… but if we plug in a player, ie. YouTube, then there may be
some additional conversion for that, but my preference is that
it be played ONLY from youtube

Kaz: question is whether we need to have a backup video on W3C
   side or not

McCool: uploading to YouTube is not good for archival, since
reencodes, so just need a place to store the original

Kaz: I thought I asked you to mention our requests directly on
the email thread with Dom ad Coralie, but I'll proceed with the
   discussion.

koalie: not a problem to do the archive, but note that it will
   be *playable* only from YouTube

Sebastian: kaz, I can't do the upload, you need to

Kaz: also need to check that the captions are ok

McCool: can you share a link to the captions?

   <kaz> [14]modified caption VTT file

     [14] https://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-wot-ig/2021Feb/att-0005/WOTMotion.vtt

McCool: let's rename this to include the language, put in
github (wot-marketing) somewhere, clean up the english version,
then ask for volunteers to do translations

   <citrullin> @cris [15]https://support.google.com/youtube/
answer/2734698?hl=en#zippy= Youtube supports a lot of formats

     [15] https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2734698?hl=en#zippy=

McCool: and I think we have native speakers for German,
Italian, French, and Japanese, at least
   … let's use github to manage the captions and translations;
can't store video file, but captions are just a text file

<cris> @citrullin cool so vtt is supported

Sebastian: I can't find the email thread with dom

<koalie> [note: Dom is off this week, as stated before. He may
be called, he said. He'll be back at work on March 1]

Kaz: ok, let me find it and make sure are on it and resend

<citrullin> @cris yes, not the prefered format, but it is
supported. If it doesn't work properly, we can still deal with
   it.

McCool: let's just get everything ready and Dom can hopefully
quickly do the launch setup on Monday

  update document page with links

McCool: I think we should update the explainer as well; let's
   create an issue about it
… also instead of linking directly to videos, tutorials, etc.
from that page, let's link to other pages which organize each
   class of material
   … to avoid redundancy

   <sebastian> [16]https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/issues/126

     [16] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/issues/126

Daniel: is also an outstanding PR to add a video subpage

Sebastian: only small comment about video page

McCool: I can change "Links" to "Further Reading" when I do my
   fix-up pass

   <kaz> [17]PR 122 - Pr 120 followup

     [17] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/pull/122

Sebastian: ok, then in the meantime will merge PR

  WoT Video Page

Sebastian: would like area (page) that collect all the videos
   and organize them
… and daniel you also provided a PR for this?
… created just a subpage, but probably need to track down some
   additional videos
… e.g. the one by Jeff Jaffe, Lemonbeat, workshop by Siemens,
   etc.

McCool: coralie, are we ok with embedding videos directly in
   pages? Any privacy issues?

Philipp: problem with embedding is that resources from twitter,
etc. are loaded when the page is loaded?

   <cris> +1

Daniel: easy to just put in a thumbnail, and have it open a new
   page when clicked

Philipp: forcing the user to load third-party code is the
   problem, i.e. direct embedding
… so just visiting the page means sending info to twitter,
youtube, etc. just by visiting the page

   Daniel: video thumbnails are easy, but for twitter not so easy;
can add link to visit twitter

McCool: suggest that for now we just use a link, and take out
the news feed embedding; later we can figure out a way to
scrape twitter to get the latest news without forcing loading
   of twitter resources

Sebastian: ok, well, let's merge the current PR, then create an
issue to cleanup the twitter embedding
… for now the twitter cleanup can just be a link

Daniel: will cleanup by doing a screenshot for now
… that way the layout does not get messed up

how to handle the WoT-JP CG

Sebastian: I thought there was a PR for this, but it seems is
   not the case
… kaz, don't have anything from your side
… but assume we will put it on the "Community Group" page

McCool: kaz, will you do a PR to add content to this page?

Kaz: yes, working with Toumura-san, Mizushima-san

McCool: can be very simple, just a short description and a link
… and put a section at the bottom of the current page, rather
   than another page

new WoT page needs to be upward-compatible

Daniel: missing testing info right now

Sebastian: kaz you check the current status and see if it's ok
… we also don't have to be complete at launch; we can add extra
   material later

Kaz: my point also; let's just create a checklist

McCool: for launch, let's let Dom get it up, then we can
   announce it

koalie: will also need a signal when you are ready

Sebastian: ok, will aim for that this Friday

Daniel: might be tricky to do this Friday

McCool: I would be ok with a short meeting on Friday to do a
final check and make the decision to launch

   adjourn
