Reviewing the minutes

   <kaz> [9]July-23

      [9] https://www.w3.org/2020/07/23-wot-marketing-minutes.html

   Sebastian: objection to make minutes public?
   ... approved

Time Slot of the Marketing Call

   Sebastian: Let's start a Doodle poll Kaz?
   ... Michael McCool and Michael Lagally are not able to join the
   current call

Explainer Video

   Sebastian: We need to pay before the end of September otherwise
   we need to cancel

   Daniel: How much time do they need?

   Sebastian: I need to ask them

Webpage Redesign

   Sebastian: (showing the website)
   ... we can also update the links in the IG and WG websites
   ... I mentioned that it would be better to simplify the main
   page
   ... Coralie said that it would be better not to, since the
   redesign is going on

   <kaz> [10]WoT landing page

     [10] https://www.w3.org/wot/

   <kaz> [11]WoT welcome page

     [11] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

   Kaz: we should be clear about the names of those two pages
   ... and please remember that we cannot touch the WoT landing
   page which is managed by the W3C Team while we can maintain our
   own WG/IG pages

   <kaz> [12]WoT WG site

     [12] https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/

   <kaz> [13]WoT IG site

     [13] https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/

   Sebastian: yes correct, we can put a link though

   Kaz: I've been repeatedly explaining the situation and what we
   can/should do including the possible redirection from the W3C
   server URLs to our generated contents on the GitHub
   ... if my understanding and your understanding is the same, we
   should think about what to be put on the WG page URL and what
   to be put on the IG page URL now

   <kaz> [14]WoT WG site

     [14] https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/

   <kaz> [15]WoT IG site

     [15] https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/

   Daniel: we should route to the proper URL for the WoT welcome
   page

   Sebastian: How should the domain name look like?
   ... can we get a separate top-level domain name for the WoT
   welcome page like [16]https://json-ld.org/ for JSON-LD?

     [16] https://json-ld.org/

   Kaz: might be confusing for people if we get a separate
   top-level domain name for WoT

   Sebastian: we want to release a homepage
   ... either under w3.org or a completely new domain name

   <dape> what about using "https://www.w3.org/WoT/welcome" ?

   Daniel: I think that we will never have w3.org/WoT custom built
   ... so that is why I have proposed the /welcome

   Kaz: Again, if you've understood what I've been explaining,
   would it be OK to have the following three redirections from
   the W3C server URL to the GitHub URLs?

   <kaz> [17]https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/ =>
   [18]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/wg/

     [17] https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/
     [18] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/wg/

   <kaz> [19]https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/ =>
   [20]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/ig/

     [19] https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/
     [20] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/ig/

   <kaz> "https://www.w3.org/WoT/welcome" =>
   [21]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

     [21] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

   Daniel: The user should not see "github.com" as the domain but
   the content should be what is maintained on github

   Kaz: Please visit "[22]https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/" to see what
   we already have
   ... As I've been repeatedly mentioning we've been already
   maintaining the WG page on the GitHub side with a redirection
   setting from the W3C URL to the GitHub content
   ... the user will see "https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/" as the URL
   for the WoT WG page which is maintained on GitHub at
   "[23]https://github.com/w3c/wotwg/blob/master/index.html"

     [22] https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/
     [23] https://github.com/w3c/wotwg/blob/master/index.html

   Daniel: I think we should start with one of the possible
   additional redirections rather than setting up all of them at
   once, i.e., starting with:

   <kaz> https://www.w3.org/WoT/welcome =>
   [24]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

     [24] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

   Daniel: after checking there is no problem with that
   redirection, we can add the following two:

   <kaz> [25]https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/ =>
   [26]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/wg/

     [25] https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/
     [26] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/wg/

   <kaz> [27]https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/ =>
   [28]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/ig/

     [27] https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/
     [28] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/ig/

   Kaz: Please note that (as I've been explaining) we can freely
   and safely add yet another redirection setting for the
   following two pages because they're our own group pages:

   <kaz> [29]https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/ =>
   [30]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/wg/

     [29] https://www.w3.org/WoT/WG/
     [30] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/wg/

   <kaz> [31]https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/ =>
   [32]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/ig/

     [31] https://www.w3.org/WoT/IG/
     [32] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/ig/

   Kaz: However, I'm not sure if it would be OK to add the
   following redrection given the W3C Web site redesign project is
   still ongoing

   <kaz> https://www.w3.org/WoT/welcome =>
   [33]https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

     [33] https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/

   Kaz: So I'd suggest we check with Coralie again to see if it's
   OK to add the redirection from
   "https://www.w3.org/WoT/welcome/" to
   "https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/" now.

   Sebastian: I received an email from Coralie saying that we can
   publish the WoT welcome page itself
   ... So now I will take the action item that this page becomes
   online
   ... Let's get group consensus on wednesday then. In the
   meantime, I will talk with Coralie about the expected
   redirection from "https://www.w3.org/WoT/welcome" to
   "https://w3c.github.io/wot-marketing/".

   RESOLUTION: we'll check with Coralie on the redirection to make
   sure, ask the whole WoT IG/WG for review and set up the
   redirection

   <kaz> [adjourned]

Summary of Action Items

Summary of Resolutions

    1. [34]we'll check with Coralie on the redirection to make
       sure, ask the whole WoT IG/WG for review and set up the
       redirection
