Meeting minutes

  Preliminary

Fady will moderate the Marketing call from today.

  Minutes

   [13]Sep-14

     [13] https://www.w3.org/2021/09/14-wot-marketing-minutes.html

Fady: any objections to the minutes?

   <kaz> (none; approved)

  Updates on tutorials

   Ege: tutorial videos ongoing

McCool: should have outlines/scripts, etc., as well

Ege: similar to those already on GH

   [14]https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/tree/main/tutorials/
   TUM%20Courses

     [14] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/tree/main/tutorials/TUM Courses

Ege: we have hired someone who will do the videos. He has
started this week and he is going to make a sample video this
   month about just JSON

Philipp: I have written these tutorials that use ESPs and WoT
… I am working on a video too

   McCool: really nice tutorials

   <kaz> [15]TUM courses

     [15] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/blob/main/tutorials/TUM Courses

Kaz: the licensing should be thought of beforehand properly. If
they are TUM resources, it is better to link to the TUM website

Ege: the tutorials we are making are going to be brand new and
   not branded with TUM

Sebastian: we don't have to submit the tutorials to the W3C no?

Sebastian: the content on the GitHub has nothing to do with the
   new videos right?

Ege: that is correct. We are making things from scratch

Fady: do we have a youtube channel for WoT?

McCool: we have but it depends on the definition of we. we can
post to the w3c channel and tag them with wt

Fady: i think it would be good to have one

Philipp: one concern I have about youtube is advertisement.
There are ads shown that we cannot control the nature of
… and we do not get any monetary benefit until 1000 views or so

Daniel: there is a new video platform by w3c?

Kaz: there are several issues here, e.g., (1) affiliation of
resources under wot-marketing including presentations and
videos and (2) possible problem with advertisement on youtube.

Sebastian: let's postpone it for when we have the tutorials
   ready

Ege: I can delete them but I cannot make actual lectures W3C
   content

  Pull Requests

    PR 201

<kaz> [16]PR 201 - feat: reorder and create new groups

     [16] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/pull/201

Fady: dp you have a PR about the videos

   Daniel: PR 201

Kaz: we should clarify the ownership of TUM courses

    PR 89

Fady: Also there is this very old PR

McCool: I never got back from Wendy about the actual policy
   about non-member contributions

   <kaz> [17]PR 89 - WIP: Update README.md to define non-members
   contribution policies

     [17] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/pull/89

    PR 202

   <kaz> [18]PR 202 - Delete tutorials/TUM Courses directory

     [18] https://github.com/w3c/wot-marketing/pull/202

    WoT issue 954

[19]wot issue 954 - Setting up Discussions for WoT Repositories

     [19] https://github.com/w3c/wot/issues/954

   [20]https://github.com/github/feedback/discussions/
   3691#discussioncomment-664867 for further reading

     [20] https://github.com/github/feedback/discussions/3691#discussioncomment-664867

McCool: we should have discussions at one repo if we do want to
   have it

Ege: we can both but it is still not clear where to put these
   different platforms for communication/contact

  How to handle groups?

McCool: we should not have two words on the menu items

Fady: I would not want to scroll or click to some link in order
   to find the contact information

Ege: we should have a shorter menu bar. Maybe standardization,
   activities, contact, developers, more

Kaz: we should have more discussions

Kaz: would suggest we have some more discussion on the
   structure design next week

   <kaz> [adjourned]
