FYI -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: W3C TF-DI Meeting (12-02-15) Date: Wed, 2 Dec 2015 17:21:19 -0500 From: William Miller <mact-usa@att.net> To: 'Soumya Kanti Datta' <Soumya-Kanti.Datta@eurecom.fr> Soumya, The following links will be discussed during tomorrows W3C TF-DI online meeting. These XEP will be used in the NIST Global Cities Team Challenge II (GCTC) Transactive Energy (TE) Test Bed. The use of XEP-0305 will be used to reduce latency during authentication of Things. XEP-0347 include definition of resources, XEP-0324 Provisioning of Things, and XEP0322 EXI Compression. IETF RFC7395 Sub-protocol XMPP over Websocket https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc7395/?include_text=1 XEP-0305 XMPP Quickstart http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0305.html XEP-0347 IoT Discovery http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0347.html XEP-0324 IoT Provisioning http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0324.html XEP-0322 EXI Compression http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0322.html The TE Test Bed will utilize IPDX.NET (http://www.ipdx.net to offer registration of devices. The end point nodes will utilize XMPP over Websocket to initiate a session with the XMPP Server. I would like to ask W3C TF-FI to consider participation in the test bed and use of XMPP over Websocket. Websocket being a standard developed by W3C. I believe this work will benefit use of other protocols such as UPnP, CoAP. MQTT, and REST API. IPSO may also be interested in utilizing this capability. The realt0ime performance that is delayed by the number of rounds needed to authenticate can be minimized. The use of the Provisioning capability will elevate trust and offers privacy a key concern of users. This work will begin in January 2016 and further definition of requirements will be in December 2015. Please let me know if you have any comments. Regards, W.J.MILLER, PRESIDENT, MaCT, (202) 386-2361 ISO/IEC/IEEE P21451-1-4 (Sensei-IoT*), Chairman http://www.sensei-iot.org
