Would it be possible to configure the list serv to bounce messages of the form: /.*: whatwg Digest/ Most of us [1] simply reply to the message we get, not paying much attention to the summary. (Some do fix the Subject, and there's one kind soul who is fighting to improve our habits.) I'm reading and writing using Gmail on OS X, which means that once I've scrolled the admittedly large message subject offscreen, the only place the Subject is visible is in the window title, which I'm clearly not reading. I'd only read that if I needed to find my way back to the window, but most Gmail users would see 'Gmail - ...' and not need the Subject to get back. Since this is OS X, if I want to get back, i'd click and hold the browser icon in the dock and get an expose effect (or I use cmd-` to cycle through all the windows in the current Space). Roughly the same would apply if my Windows 7 computer supported Aero Glass (it doesn't *sob*) or if someone else's Vista computer did. It seems that monthly, whatwg gets ~4 (barely a handful) threads which are Re digest or Fwd digest (or conceivably a localized version, although I haven't hit that yet). 1-2 of those threads get a number of replies from list regulars. Working backward, September [5] and August [6] the only months with 0 digest threads. thanks, and sorry for being off topic [1] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2011-January/thread.html [2] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2010-December/thread.html [3] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2010-November/thread.html [4] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2010-October/thread.html [5] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2010-September/thread.html [6] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2010-August/thread.html [7] http://lists.whatwg.org/pipermail/whatwg-whatwg.org/2010-July/thread.html
