IE7, FF3 and Opera 9.51 compress whitespace when getting document.title. \t and \n (at least) are converted to spaces, runs of consecutive spaces are compressed to a single space, and leading and trailing spaces are stripped. Safari 3.1 follows the spec and does none of this. We've got a report that not doing this processing messes up page titles on last.fm. Of course we can fix page titles in tab and window decorations by doing the processing in user interface code, but at first glance, it would make more sense to change the spec to follow dominant UA behaviour. Rob -- "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
