SVG allows bitmaps to be imported, and subsequently filtered (blurs, displacements, channel separations, layers, compositing, xors -- etc) ala Photoshop Canvas has all those drawing primitives -- bezier curves, ovals, rects, clipPaths, generally associated with vector graphics.
