This is not true, implementing new elements is not a pain, other parts
of the spec are considerably harder, unless you can back statements
like this up, please don't use them, it makes the other statements so
much less believable.

As to all the information that you're saying need to be provided -
could you point to where that is in the spec for the datalist element?
