I couldn't find anything in any of the three WCAG2 documents I looked at
that even mentioned focus -- could you point out the specific clause you
were referring to?

Incidentally the text in the autofocus section has changed somewhat since
you wrote your e-mail, please let me know if you think the current text
has addressed your concerns.
