Re: Feedback on Web Site Design

Dear Anne,

Thanks for following up with your journey and screenshot.
I am sorry to say that the search on the W3C standards and drafts is rather literal at the moment, since it looks for exact match for the string searched :(

Since there is no specification with 'wcag 2.1' in its title, the search yielded zero result. The title of the spec is "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1”, so searching for “wcag” only would surface it, or for “(wcag) 2.1” would surface it.

We could opt for matching each of the terms submitted but it would also make the search less precise because if you enter "wcag 2.1", the results would include all the specs having “wcag" in their title but also all the specs that have “2.1” as part of their title.

I have raised this as an issue on GitHub <https://github.com/w3c/w3c-website/issues/486>. If you have an opinion on the options, please let us know either in this email thread, or directly in the GH issue.

Coralie

Today, thinking about this, this search bar is specific to reports but in my haste yesterday, I wasn’t cluing in on that. Maybe it needs to be more obvious?

In that search field, I entered “wcag 2.1”. There are many results which show from most recent to least the news and blog entries and their date, and there are two pages of results for each.
