Re: Merge fullscreen popups & request for feedback

Hi,

Thanks Brad for this timely update, added to the Second Screen WG’s TPAC agenda:

https://github.com/w3c/secondscreen-wg/issues/10

We can merge this explainer ahead the meeting with the usual reviews, but we’d need the WG’s consensus before we start to possibly integrate these features into the Window Management spec that is on the W3C Standards Track. I expect the TPAC discussion to inform the WG and help chart a path forward for this proposal.

And as a segway to TPAC:

I’d ask also other WG participants (and CG participants with incubation ideas) to similarly surface topics that might benefit from a higher bandwidth group discussion. Simply reply here or chime in on the GH issue above.

Timing-wise, we’re learning towards starting our TPAC meeting later afternoon Friday 15 Sep 2023 Spanish local time (UTC+2) to provide a friendlier time slot for the West Coast remote participants. I’m expecting some agenda updates and will announce the agenda as soon as we’re ready on that front.

Thanks,

-Anssi (Second Screen WG/CG co-chair)

Hi Anssi and SecondScreen groups,

Over the past couple of quarters we have been iterating on fullscreen-popup<https://github.com/bradtriebwasser/fullscreen-popup> (see also, Chromestatus<https://chromestatus.com/feature/6002307972464640>), currently located in my personal GitHub repository. The TAG has also started an early design review<https://github.com/w3ctag/design-reviews/issues/840>, asking about group consensus. I would like to request feedback from Second Screen WG and CG members, and to move the explainer (PR<https://github.com/w3c/window-management/pull/140>) and related content into the main window-management w3c repository<https://github.com/w3c/window-management>. Please share your feedback as GitHub issues<https://github.com/bradtriebwasser/fullscreen-popup/issues> or directly on the pull request<https://github.com/w3c/window-management/pull/140>. Your feedback is much appreciated!

Regards,
Brad
