There was a proposal here from the Berlin F2F that apparently wasn't captured in GitHub: https://www.w3.org/2018/05/17-webscreens-minutes.html#x06 > For SSDP, make advertisement of supported schemes truly optional, in that controllers will still connect to the receiving device in the absence of the PROTOCOLS info. We'll adopt a similar mechanism for mDNS. (per data minimization guidelines) I think the PR #59 will need to be further revised to cover this; in fact, it looks incredibly complicated in retrospect and should be simplified to match the proposal above.
