I have been teasing for a while that there will be a specification 
proposal called "breakout box" that will give a reasonable way to access 
raw media, the same way that Insertable Streams provided that option for 
encoded media.

The first sketch of that proposal is now available:

Warning: It is VERY incomplete, and it may be easier to follow the 
slides I'm going to present in the Media IG / WebRTC meeting in a few hours.

But it's a start.
