I have tried to summarize the mailing list discussion on use cases in a document, available here:

This is still very much a work-in-progress - a number of use cases and requirements are still unclear.
In particular, more work appears to be needed on use cases relating to:
* Internet-of-things use
* Stored/delayable media transmission
* Synchronized data/accessibility
