The updated W3C process does not have a Last Call per se, but requires that we demonstrate wide review of the specification before asking for advancement to CR. One part of that review is the WG reviewing the document, as Stefan just mentioned. As part of getting the larger review done, the chairs are initiating a wide review cycle, very similar to what used to be done at Last Call, by sending email to the chairs of relevant WGs and asking them to request review from their groups. We are sending this now, in order to get at least a chance of some useful feedback before TPAC; as we saw with the Media Capture spec, feedback will likely be spread out over some time. We do not expect to be able to accommodate many requests for new functionality or changes, but we do expect that there will be a lot of places where the spec is not clear enough or does not use appropriate methods of describing its functionality. There is also the risk that some features have issues severe enough that they must be removed from the 1.0 version of the spec. Eagerly awaiting feedback! The chairs
