Thinking about it again - if we use source-injection and someone registered an EventHandler for surface-switching, what streams/tracks does the event even reference? The original ones returned by gDM some seconds/minutes/hours ago? Those which might since have been cloned and stopped? Using the callback-approach provided a good answer here - we simply wouldn't get notifications when source-injection happened.
