I have not heard a good case against supporting this for video as well. I keep hearing "this was originally designed for checking audio activity in real time", but the original intent is irrelevant to whether or not checking video activity based on RTP packets in real time is a good idea. I think it is, enabling new use cases, the API already fits the bill and Edge already implements it.
