https://www.w3.org/Bugs/Public/show_bug.cgi?id=20237 Bug ID: 20237 Summary: Get chat on the site back online. Classification: Unclassified Product: webplatform.org Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: infrastructure Assignee: schepers@w3.org Reporter: jonathan@garbee.me QA Contact: public-webplatform-bugs@w3.org CC: team-webplatform-admin@w3.org Problem: We need to get the on-site chat back online to hopefully aid in getting feedback. Solution: The *optimal* solution is to simply iframe Freenode's webchat client. Pass it a query string with the room so it is prefilled and if you want to get fancy add a simple php snippet so it generates a guest username. Then it is done. It will have a captcha to help stop spammers and gives us the power to actually operate the room. The system before was simply sub-optimal for any moderation (as was the reason it was taken down.) This system also reduces load on our servers, which is a plus. Are there any downsides I am missing here? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the QA Contact for the bug.
